David Villa's Journal

¡Hola! My name is David Villa and I am Spanish footballer, or soccer player for the Americans. My English is not good, so forgive me now for any mistakes I make. I hope by keeping journal my English will improve!

So this is an introduction. To those who don't know me, I play football. I play it well I believe! I don't mean to brag but I score a lot! I am already the third highest scorer in Spanish football history! I am striker. In the 2008 Eurocup, I was the leading scorer for the entire tournament and helped Spain win it all, despite my injury and not being able to play in the final match against Germany. I play for the Spanish National Team (La Selección), and I also play for the football club Valencia CF. Despite certain management issues I will not discuss, I love playing for Valencia! I hope to finish my contract there but Real Madrid wants to buy me...I like Madrid but feel I should finish my contract. Even if Valencia did not have such a good season this season...it is my team for the moment.

I used to play for Zaragoza but went to Valencia in 2005. Valencia is a beautiful city for those who don't know it! It is on the beach (me gusta la playa!) and has so much to see and do. I live here with my wife Patricia and daughter Zaida! We have a second child on the way. I am excited to be proud papa again! I am from a town in the Spanish Region Asturias called Tuilla. Asturias is very beautiful place! Spain is a great country if you don't know it. I might be bias, but I think it's the best country in the world!

I don't know how much to say in this first entry...it is hard to write in English but I will try. Even though we appear to be a very happy family, something seems missing. I guess the thing is that things won't ever feel right with her no matter how much I try because I find myself much more attracted to men. I do not want to tell her this, especially with a second child on the way. Also, I cannot come out due to the press in Spain. We may have legal gay marriage in my country, but we also have a strong sense of machismo, especially in the world of football. If anyone finds out, it could be very harmful to my career! I love Patricia and I love mi familia...but deep down I know I would be happier with a man. I am confused. I do not know what to do.

Well it is already 12.30 and I need to eat dinner before going out to a discoteca with the team...I like ham, and beer! ¡Hasta luego!
